ADO.NET Entity Framework - Disturbance in the Force?

Do I detect a disturbance in the force?

After reading a blog post by Murray Gordon, an ISV architecture evangelist for Microsoft, it appears that several people are expressing concerns with the ADO.NET Entity Framework.

According to the blog post by Murray there are currently 156 people who have signed the vote of no confidence and there are certainly some heavyweights among them. Tim Mallalieu, the new program manager for the Entity Framework, provides Microsoft's official response.

Why am I blogging about this disturbance in the force?

At the moment I still believe that the Entity Framework will be an awesome addition to the .net framework and although I'm open to learning the various opinions that are on both sides I'm not overly concerned at the moment. I believe the response from Tim Mallalieu is an appropriate one, in that Microsoft acknowledges the signatories of the vote of no confidence describe "scenarios that we care deeply about but do not fully support in V1.0".

June 23rd marked the first day of engineering for the ADO.NET Entity Framework 2.0 and the ADO.NET team have promised transparency in the design process and so hopefully this disturbance in the force can be put to rest. You can find more about the design of the next version of the Entity Framework on the Entity Framework Design blog.
