And so it begins...

A few hours ago, we invited the first batch of outside users to join the Intel Mash Maker technology preview.

Don't worry if you didn't make it into this batch. We'll be inviting new batches regularly, so everyone will get on eventually.

We have lots of exciting improvements planned for Mash Maker that we plan to release over the coming weeks. I'll be posting regularly to this blog describing the cool features we are adding, and pointing out particularly cool mashup examples. If you create a mashup that you are particularly proud of then let us know :-)

Similarly, if you have any questions, problems, suggestions, or just general comments, please tell us about them in the forums.

Does MashMaker provide access to its scraping library? Does it cioordinate with other scraping systems such as Simile? Does it provide RDF one way or another?

Hi Tim,
Great to hear from you. It goes without saying that a large part of what we are trying to do with Mash Maker is to enable your vision for the semantic web.
The short answer to all three questions is that the current, technology preview, release doesn't inter-operate with other stuff very much at all, but we would very much like to going forward. I'd like to be as open as possible.
The current lack of interoperability is not a statement of intent, just a statement of "not got round to it yet" :-)
The RDF issue is a little tricky, since Mash Maker produces it's RDF inside your browser - which isn't easily addressable.
I was actually planning to send you an email to talk about these, and other topics, but you beat me to it. I'll drop you an email in a moment...
