Intel has spent lots of resources and efforts on Mobile software development for years, One of Intel's biggest projects is the Intel® Mobile Platform SDK (IMPSDK). Our strong and experienced team has devoted years of research and effort to develop this tool for mobile software. The IMPSDK's powerful feature set enables developers to create efficient, reliable, and adaptive software for mobile computing environments. IMPSDK extends mobile features for applications running on notebook and tablet personal computers, Smart Phones, and personal digital assistant (PDA) platforms.
Hello, I'm Joe (Zhiheng) Zhao, a technical consulting engineer from the Intel SSG Group. My responsibility is to provide professional technical support for the IMPSDK, which soon will be released as an open source project. If you are interested in mobile software development, I will be very happy to talk with you.
We believe the IMPSDK is a fantastic chance for you to experience the fun of mobile software development. We have found the best, cost-effective solutions for mobile users, especially mobile software developers, to adapt into the mobile business rapidly, efficiently, and seamlessly. The IMPSDK contains all of our collected efforts and creative ideas. Version 1.0 was released in March 2005 and version 1.1 in April 2006, which soon will be updated by the version 1.2 open source project. Our products have already gained positive feedback and a good reputation, but we want to hear more from you to improve our product.
I'll answer your IMPSDK questions on my Blog and respond to your comments and suggestions.

Hi Joe,
Welcome to ISN!
Notebook PC and UMPC are exciting mobile computing platform, I am glad to hear that we are going to launch new software tools for building mobilized apps on the various mobile devices.
I am looking forward to hearing more technical stuffs about Intel Mobile SDK and usage for improving the applications.

It's great to see you blogging Joe. I am very much looking forward to launching the open source SDK on ISN. The team here has been working hard at getting everything ready for launch. There will be several *very cool* things happening here in the near future!

I think it's a new start since we released the Intel® Mobile Platform SDK v1.0 and v1.1 before. The model of open source will let developers more comfortable and free to use and integrate the SDK with their own applications. Meanwhile we are looking forward to good feedbacks to get this software more usable.

Why does the latest Version 1.2 SDK rely on Microsoft's Visual Studio .NET 2003? Or is that a typo? You are scaring me! If you are unable to move to VS 2005 for technical reasons, I would think twice before starting to use it. If you are so busy that you cannot move to VS 2005, it does not make me feel good. The debugger alone is worth the effort to go to VS 2005. Boost my confidence. Move to VS 2005 and tell me how easy it was.

Hi bob, sorry for the delay. Due the historic problem, most of our work was developed in vs2003 environment. However, those vs2003 projects in MPSDK open source package are only used to build up runtime environment, it won't affect your development under vs2005 environment. After the runtime environment is set up successfully, you can develop your own sample code by using vs2005 without any problem.

Hi Bin,
Can the MPSDK support devices with non-Intel ARM processors? Could elaborate on the supported processors? One ISV is interested in using the MSPSDK for Samsung devices?
Thanks, Thai
