Like a lot of people, I like looking at a nice motorcycle. Everytime I see an ultra cool bike, I imagine myself riding down the highway in my leather jacket, boots, and sunglasses. Then I get pulled back to reality. A friend of mine once gave me a ride on the back of his bike. It was thrilling and terrifying at the same time. It was my one and only experience with a motorcycle.
This bike is not only cool, but it appeals to my geek side as well.
I read about this on eweek. It's a chopper made by Orange County Choppers. There's an onboard embedded Core Duo processor for the kickstand, rearview camera, tachometer, and spedometer. A motorcycle with a rearview camera - who would have thought?
Engadget mentions that they're surprised that anyone at Intel even watches a TV show about motorcycle building. They shouldn't be. Like other technologists and engineers, people at Intel are always looking for new cool places to use technology.
The thing that I've been wondering about is what software is used to power the bike. What features can you use while driving? How do you access them? Through voice commands, simple knobs and switches? What happens if the PC crashes while you're driving?
What other examples of different, innovative software applications have you seen?
Oh yeah, and when they make a Quad Core chopper, I wouldn't mind taking another ride.

I have the perfect solution for you, Bill. OCC is letting you build and have your own copy of the Quad Core Chopper in Second Life:

Yours for the low low (really) low price of L$1. :-)
We should get some for the whole team, and then we could be a motorcycle gang in SL. Geek pride, represent! ;-)

Great idea Josh. I'll go buy one tonight.

Adrian, now if I could only figure out how to get one...

Bill, even better: how about a six-core? You'll be ahead of the crowd. Not even available in SL! This guy overhere builds custom choppers around V6 engines:

Now you tell me: where can I get an 80-core chopper? ;-)

It just keeps getting better! Adrian introduced me to choppers with V6 engines, and they brought the QC chopper into the building where I work. I need to get my picture taken with the bike. Do you think they'd take me for a ride?

The chopper has two V-Twin motors, so it’s truly "quad core". I was kind of disappointed that the touted PC that controls the kickstand, media system, GPS, etc. wasn’t attached, but it is still a very cool ride. Bill, now’s your chance tohave one of these! ;-)Â (via ISN - Posts in the Multicore Category)

It's a good-looking bike in real life
BUT IT HAS A CRAPPY SECOND LIFE SCRIPT.
Sorry OCC.
